In C17th Sicily one's honour could be a matter of life death. Barnado has been commissioned to paint portraits of the Speranza family. However, he is having trouble finishing the portrait of the young Isadora. Barnado is distracted by thoughts of Constanza, Isadora's older sister. He he has fallen in love with Constanza - but paint is how he talks, not with words. Constanza's arrival affords a dangerous opportunity to resolve this impasse . . .
